The Grinch Amigurumi
Inspired by 2018 Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch
Here is the video tutorial step by step with (US) terms in subtitles

MATERIALS:
- Hook N° 4 mm
- Worsted weight yarn
- I used: Estambre del bosque nieve
- green
- white
- black
- red
- dark green for nose, mouth and eyebrows
- white ( sport weight yarn) to make the eyes
- 2 (6mm) safety eyes
- yarn needle
- stitch marker
- scissors
- pins
- pom pom 8 mm
- glue gun
- dog brush (optional)
- Fiberfill or stuffing of choice
- Finished size about 27 cm tall
- Using similar yarn
ABBREVIATIONS:
- MR= magic ring
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
- dec = decrease (sc 2 together)
- FLO = front loop only
- BLO = back loop only
- hdc inc = half double crochet increase (2 hdc in same st)
- dc inc = double crochet increase ( 2 dc in same st)
- dc dec = double crochet decrease
- sts (s) = stitches (s)
- sl st = slip stitch
- rep = repeat
- * * = repeat work between asterisks as indicated
- ( ) = number of stitches you should have at the end of your round
NOTE:
- Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker
- Start stuffing as you go
- ch 2 count as hdc
PATTERN:
ARMS MAKE (2)
GREEN YARN
1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
2-3.- 1 sc in each stitch around (6)
4.- *1 sc, inc* rep 3 times (9)
5.- 1 sc in each stitch around (9)
CHANGE TO WITHE YARN
6.- 1 sc in each stitch around (9)
CHANGE TO RED YARN
7.- BLO 1 sc in each stitch around (9)
8.- 7 sc, 1 decrease (8)
9-15.- 1 sc in each stitch around (8)
16.- fold the arm and make 3 sc, both sides together to close.
fasten off.
FLO round #6 we are going to continue with white yarn in the back side
ch 2 count as hdc, make 1 hdc in the same st, hdc in the next 2 chains.
1.- *hdc inc, 2 hdc * rep 3 times (12)
sl st in the second chain, fasten off.
LEGS MAKE 2
BLACK YARN
1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
2-3.- 1 sc in each stitch around (6)
4.- *1 sc, inc* rep 3 times (9)
5.- 1 sc in each stitch around (9)
6-7.- 6 sc, 3 dc (9)
8.- 1 sc in each stitch around (9)
9.- 7 sc, 1 decrease (8)
10.- 1 sc in each stitch around (8)
CHANGE TO WHITE YARN
11.- 1 sc in each stitch around (8)
CHANGE TO GREEN YARN
12.- BLO 1 sc in each stitch around (8)
Start stuffing as you go!
13-19.- 1 sc in each stitch around (8)
Stuff firmly, fasten off .
FLO round #11 we are going to continue with white yarn in the back side
ch 2 count as hdc, make 1 hdc in the same st, hdc in the next chain.
1.- *hdc inc, 1 hdc * rep 4 times (12)
sl st in the second chain, fasten off.
*Make a second leg, sc 3 and ch 4 DO NOT cut the yarn
now join the legs , place your stitch marker in the first sc.
20.- 8 sc , 4 sc over the chain taking only one strand , 8 sc , 4 sc over the chain taking only one strand (24)
21.- *5 sc, inc* rep 4 times (28)
22.- *13 sc, inc* rep 2 times (30)
23.- 1 sc in each stitch around (30)
24.- *4 sc, inc* rep 6 times (36)
CHANGE TO WHITE YARN
25.- 1 sc in each stitch around (36)
CHANGE TO RED YARN
26.- BLO 1 sc in each stitch around (36)
27.- *4 sc, dec* rep 6 times (30)
28.- 1 sc in each stitch around (30)
29.- *3 sc, dec* rep 6 times (24)
30.- 1 sc in each stitch around (24)
31.- *2 sc, dec* rep 6 times (18)
32-33.- 1 sc in each stitch around (18)
FLO round #25 we are going to continue with white yarn in the back side
1.- *inc, 5 sc* rep 6 veces (42)
sl st in the first sc, fasten off.
34.- 3 sc, we place the arm to join the body
through the 4 strands and we make 3 sc, continued with 6 sc
Place the second arm and make 3 sc and finish the round with 3 sc (18)
35.- *1 sc, dec* rep 6 times (12)
CHANGE TO WHITE YARN
36.- 1 hdc in each stitch around (12)
CHANGE TO GREEN YARN
37.- BLO 1 sc in each stitch around (12)
FLO round #36 we are going to continue with white yarn in the back side
ch 2 count as hdc, make 1 hdc in the same st, hdc in the next chain.
1.- *hdc inc, 1 hdc * rep 6 times (18)
sl st in the second chain, fasten off and brush all the white parts.
38.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)
39.- 1 increase in each stitch around (36)
40-43.- 1 sc in each stitch around (36)
44.- *1 sc, dec* rep 12 times (24)
45-46.- 1 sc in each stitch around (24)
47.- *1 sc, dec* rep 8 times (16)
48-50.- 1 sc in each stitch around (16)
Before we continue with the head we are going to make the eyes
EYES MAKE 2
SPORT WEIGHT YARN WHITE
1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)
Place the safety eyes and close the ring , leave a long tail for sewing.
- Place safety eyes between round 46 and 47 with 2 stitches apart and sew the white part.
- With dark green yarn sew nose between rounds 44 to 45
- With pins we mark the mouth to embroider between rounds 44 to 40 with 5 stitches apart
51.- *2sc, dec* rep 4 times (12)
52.- 1 sc in each stitch around (12)
- Embroider eyebrows in round 50
- Stuff firmly
53.- * dec* rep 6 times (6)
Stuff firmly , fasten off.
- wrap around your fingers green yarn twice and make a knot
- sew it to the head, cut and brush it.
- glue the pom poms
HAT
WHITE YAN
Make 18 chains, form a circle by making a sl st in the first ch stitch made, be careful not to
twist the row of ch stitches.
1.- Ch 2, hdc all the way around sl st in the 2nd ch to finish row (18)
CHANGE TO RED YARN
- Start row with ch 3 doesn’t count as hdc
- Finish row with sl st in the 3rd ch.
2.-BLO *1 dc, dc dec * rep 6 times (12)
3.- 1 dc in each double crochet around (12)
4.- *2 dc, dc dec* rep 3 times (9)
5.- *1 dc, dc dec* rep 3 times (6)
6-7.- 1 dc in each double crochet around (6)
fasten off.
- glue the pom pom in the top of the hat
- we fold the hat and sew it

Hola Que tipo de lana o algodon debo hacer este amigurumis para que al momento de lavarlo no de el tejido?
Hola Dayanna! yo utilice estambre %100 acrílico lo lavas a mano y no se hace feo el tejido.
Estoy aprendiendo a tejer pero me gusta ver tutoriales y hacer grandes creaciones como ustedes, para mí el tiempo puede ser más pero hasta ahora me han salido una que otra obra…. Gracias
I understand how to connect the legs but mine seem crooked or uneven rather. After the 2nd leg I sc 3 and chain 4 then connect the other leg where I left off. So not sure where Im going wrong.
