Gilbert Blythe Amigurumi inspired by the Netflix series Anne with an E

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

SKILLS YOU NEED:

  • Magic ring, chains, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increase, decrease, invisible decrease, front loop only, back loop only, slip stitch
  •  How to change yarn color
  • Basic sewing and embroidery skills
  • How to join parts

 

SIZE:  27 cm tall using similar yarn

MATERIALS:

  • Hook N°  4 and 4.5 mm
  • Worsted weight acrylic yarn #4
  • I used: El Gato expres
  • Skin color / 40g. approx.
  • Light Brown / 20g. approx.
  • Dark Brown  / 30g.  approx
  • Light Grey  / 40g. approx
  • Black / 15g. approx
  • White / 20g. approx
  • Leftovers of black and white super fine yarn
  • 2 (12mm) safety eyes black or brown
  • Yarn Needle
  • stitch marker
  • scissors
  • pins
  • Fiberfill or stuffing of choice

 

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • Rnd = Round
  • MR= magic ring
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
  • dec = decrease (sc 2 together)
  • inv dec = invisible decrease
  • FLO = front loop only
  • BLO = back loop only
  • sts (s) = stitches (s)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • rep = repeat
  • * * = repeat work between asterisks as indicated
  • ( ) = number of stitches you should have at the end of your round

NOTE:

  • Crochet the whole body with 4 mm crochet hook
  • Choose your favorite worsted weight yarn
  • Work in continuous rounds
  • Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker
  • Do not join rounds with a slip stitch or turn unless stated otherwise.
  • If you normally crochet loosely, you may want to use a smaller hook size to tighten your stitches up
  • Start stuffing as you go

PATTERN 

ARMS MAKE 2,  SKIN COLOR YARN

Rnd 1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

Rnd 2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

Rnd 3-4.- 1  sc in each stitch around (12)

Rnd 5.- *inv dec, 2 sc* rep 3 times (9)

CHANGE TO WHITE

Rnd 6-12.- 1  sc in each stitch around (9)

Rnd 13.-  inv dec, 7 sc (8)

Stuff slightly.

Rnd 14.- fold the arm and make 3 sc, both sides together to close.

Fasten off and make another one.

LEGS MAKE 2 BLACK YARN 

Rnd 1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

Rnd 2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

Rnd 3.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)

Rnd 4.- *2 sc, inc* rep 6 times (24)

Rnd 5.- BLO  1  sc in each stitch around (24)

Rnd 6.- 8 sc, 4 inv dec, 8 sc (20)

Rnd 7.- 6 sc, 4 inv dec, 6 sc (16)

Rnd 8.- 1  sc in each stitch around (16)

CHANGE TO LIGHT GREY 

Rnd 9.-  BLO  1  sc in each stitch around (16)

Rnd 10-15.- 1 sc in each stitch around (16)

Stuff firmly, fasten off.

Make a second leg, DO NOT cut the yarn at the end.

BODY

Second leg make 6 sc and chain 3.  now join the legs,  count 3 sc of the first leg. See picture # 3, place your stitch marker in the first sc.

Rnd 16.-  Make 16 sc, 3 sc  over the chain taking only one strand, 16 sc, 3 sc  over the chain taking only one strand (38)

Rnd 17-18.- 1  sc in each stitch around (38)

Rnd 19.- * 17 sc, inv dec* rep 2 times (36)

Rnd 20-22.- 1  sc in each stitch around (36)

CHANGE TO WHITE

Rnd 23.- BLO  * 4 sc, dec * rep 6 times (30)

Rnd 24-26.- 1  sc in each stitch around (30)

Rnd 27.- * 3 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (24)

Rnd 28.- 1  sc in each stitch around (24)

Rnd 29.- Make 6 sc, we place the arm to join the body through the 4 strands and we make 3 sc, continued with 9 sc place the second arm and make 3 sc and finish the round with 3 sc (24)

Rnd 30.- * inv dec, 2 sc* rep 6 times (18)

Rnd 31.- 1  sc in each stitch around (18)

CHANGE TO SKIN COLOR 

Rnd 32.- BLO  1  sc in each stitch around (18)

HEAD

Rnd 33.- * 2 sc, inc * rep 6 times (24)

Rnd 34.- * 3 sc, inc * rep 6 times (30)

Rnd 35.- * 4 sc, inc * rep 6 times (36)

Rnd 36.- * 5 sc, inc * rep 6 times (42)

Rnd 37.-* 6 sc, inc * rep 6 times (48)

Rnd 38-47 .- 1  sc in each stitch around (48)

Rnd 49.-* 5 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (36)

  • Place safety eyes between round 44 and 43. 5 stitches apart
  • With white yarn, we embroider a part of the eye
  • Embroider nose between rounds 42 to 41
  • Embroider eyebrows in round 46
  • Embroider mouth in round 39

Rnd 50.-* 4 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (30)

Rnd 51.-* 3 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (24)

Rnd 52.-* 2 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (18)

Stuff firmly

Rnd 53.-* 1 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (12)

Rnd 54.- * inv dec * rep 6 times (6)

Stuff firmly, fasten off.

EARS MAKE 2

COLOR SKIN YARN 

1.- 5 sc in a magic ring (5)

We close it in half to form an ear, we make 1 chain and cut leaving a long thread.

  • Sew ears between rounds 43 to 41
  • With 5 stitches apart between the eye and the ear

HAIR

DARK BROWN

Rnd 1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

Rnd 2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

Rnd 3.- inc in each stitch around (24)

Rnd 4.- * 3 sc, inc * rep 6 times (30)

Rnd 5.- * 4 sc, inc * rep 6 times (36)

Make 4 chains, start in the 2nd chain from the hook and make 1sc, and 2 hdc.  skip 1 stitch and make a sl st in the next st. Repeat the same steps until you have 4 strands of hair.

Make 8 chains, start in the 3rd chain from the hook and make 6 hdc.  skip 1 stitch and make a sl st in the next st. Make only 1 strand of hair

Make 11 chains, start in the 3rd chain from the hook and make 8 dc and 1 hdc.  skip 1 stitch and make a sl st in the next st. make only 1 strand of hair. 

Make 16 chains, start in the 3rd chain from the hook and make 13 dc and 1 hdc.  skip 1 stitch and make a sl st in the next st. Repeat the same steps until you have 10 strands of hair.

Make 11 chains, start in the 3rd chain from the hook and make 8 dc and 1 hdc.  skip 1 stitch and make a sl st in the next st. Make only  1 strand of hair. 

Make 8 chains, start in the 3rd chain from the hook and make 6 hdc.  skip 1 stitch and make a sl st in the next st. Make only 1 strand of hairFasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

  • Pin the top of hair with the short hair in the front and on the sides, we sew the top part first.

  • Then pin the bottom row of the hair equally, sew the bottom hair covering all spaces. 

BERET HAT

LIGHT GREY 

Rnd 1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

Rnd 2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

Rnd 3.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)

Rnd 4.- *2 sc, inc* rep 6 times (24)

Rnd 5.- *3  sc, inc* rep 6 times (30)

Rnd 6.- *4 sc, inc* rep 6 times (36)

Rnd 7.- *5 sc, inc* rep 6 times (42)

Rnd 8.- *6 sc, inc* rep 6 times (48)

Rnd 9.- *7 sc, inc* rep 6 times (54)

Rnd 10-12.-  1  sc in each stitch around (54)

Rnd 13.- 18 sc, 9 inv dec, 18 sc (45)

 Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

We are going to continue with LIGHT GREY  yarn in the FLO of the 9 decreases, make 1 sc, 1 hdc, 5 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.

Fasten off and leave a long tail,  sew the beret hat at the top of the head.

VEST

LIGHT BROWN YARN AND 4.5 MM HOOK 

Row 1.- Make 31 chains, start in the 2nd chain from the hook

Row 2-5.-  1 sc in each stitch, ch 1 and turn (30)

Row 6.- * 4 sc, dec* rep 5 times, ch 1 and turn (25)

Row 7.- 1 inv dec, 21 sc, 1 inv dec (23)

Row 8.- 1 inv dec, 19 sc, 1 inv dec (21)

Row 9.-  1 sc in each stitch, ch 1 and turn (21)

Row 10.- Make 2 sc, 5 ch, skip 4 stitches, 9 sc, chain 5, skip 4 stitches, 2 sc. (23)

Row 11.-  1 sc in each stitch (23)

Now we are going crochet all the way around the Vest. See the first picture

Row 12.- Make 10 sc, 1 increase in the corner, 28 sc, 1 increase in the corner, 10 sc,  sl st in the first stitch. Fasten off and leave a long tail. Sew the front part of the vest
