Lucy The Mermaid Pig

 

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

SKILLS YOU NEED:

  • Magic ring, chains, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increase, invisible decrease, front loop only, back loop only, slip stitch
  •  How to change yarn color
  • Basic sewing and embroidery skills
  • How to join parts

 

SIZE:  16 cm tall using similar yarn

 

MATERIALS:

  • Hook N° 3 mm
  • I used 100 % Cotton Sports Weight yarn Hilaza Sinfonia
  • Light Blue
  • Light Pink
  • Pink
  • Light Purple
  • Leftovers of color black
  • Yarn Needle
  • stitch marker
  • scissors
  • pins
  • Fiberfill or stuffing of choice

 

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • Rnd = Round
  • MR= magic ring
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
  • dec = decrease (sc 2 together)
  • inv dec = invisible decrease
  • FLO = front loop only
  • BLO = back loop only
  • sts (s) = stitches (s)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • rep = repeat
  • * * = repeat work between asterisks as indicated
  • ( ) = number of stitches you should have at the end of your round

 

NOTE:

  • Work in continuous rounds
  • Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker
  • Do not join rounds with a slip stitch or turn unless stated otherwise.
  • If you normally crochet loosely, you may want to use a smaller hook size to tighten your stitches up
  • Start stuffing as you go

 

PATTERN

Arms Make 2, start with color Light Pink

Rnd 1.- Start 7 sc in a magic ring (7)

Rnd 2-7.- 1  sc in each stitch around (7)

Rnd 8.- fold the arm and make 3 sc, both sides together to close.

Fasten off and make another one.

SNOUT, Light Pink

Rnd 1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

Rnd 2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

Rnd 3.- BLO 1  sc in each stitch around (12)

Make a slip stitch in the first sc, and cut leaving a long thread. With black yarn embroidery the nose.

TAIL AND BODY Color Light Purple 

Rnd 1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

Rnd 2.- 1  sc in each stitch around (6)

Rnd 3.- *1 sc, inc* rep 3 times (9)

Rnd 4.- 1  sc in each stitch around (9)

Rnd 5.- *2 sc, inc* rep 3 times (12)

Rnd 6.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)

Rnd 7.- *2 sc, inc* rep 6 times (24)

Rnd 8.- 10 sc, 4 inc, 8 sc, 1 dec (27)

Rnd 9.- 12 sc, 4 inc, 9 sc, 1 dec (30)

Rnd 10 – 14.- 1  sc in each stitch around (30)

Rnd 15.- *3 sc, dec * rep 6 times (24)

Stuff firmly

Make 7 sc, change to Light Pink 

Rnd 16.- BLO 1  sc in each stitch around, place your stitch marker in the first sc (24)

Rnd 17.- 1  sc in each stitch around (24)

CHANGE TO PINK 

BIKINI TOP 

Rnd 18.-* 6 sc, inv dec * rep 3 times (21)

CHANGE TO LIGHT PINK 

Rnd 19.- BLO 1  sc in each stitch around (21)

NOW WE WILL DO THE DETAILS

We are going to continue with PINK yarn in the back side of round # 18

FLO: Make 2 sc in the same chain and 2 slip stitch repeat the sequence and finish round with sl st in the first sc.

Fasten off and hide the extra yarn.

We are going to continue with LIGHT PURPLE yarn in the back side of round # 16

FLO: Make 9 sc, 3 dc, 1 slip stitch, 3 dc, and 8 sc, finish round with sl st in the first sc.

Fasten off and hide the extra yarn.

Rnd 20.- Make 5 sc, we place the arm to join the body through the 4 strands and we make 3 sc, continued with 7 sc place the second arm and make 3 sc and finish the round with 3 sc (21)

HEAD light pink 

Rnd 21.- * 6 sc, inc * rep 3 times (24)

Rnd 22.- * 3 sc, inc * rep 6 times (30)

Rnd 23.- * 4 sc, inc * rep 6 times (36)

Rnd 24.- * 5 sc, inc * rep 6 times (42)

Rnd 24 – 33.- 1  sc in each stitch around (42)

CHANGE TO LIGHT BLUE

Rnd .- 1  sc in each stitch around (42)

  • Embroider eyes in round #30. with 3 stitches apart.
  • Sew snout between rounds 25 to 29 and stuff slightly.

Rnd 35.- BLO * 5 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (36)

Rnd 36.-* 4 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (30)

Rnd 37.-* 3 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (24)

Rnd 38.-* 2 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (18)

Stuff firmly

Rnd 39.-* 1 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (12)

Rnd 40.- * inv dec * rep 6 times (6)

Stuff firmly, fasten off.

EARS MAKE 2  light pink 

1.- Make 7 chains, start in the 3rd chain from the hook and make 3 hdc, 1 sc, 3 sc in the last chain, turn and make 1 sc, 3 hdc. cut leaving a long thread.

HAIR LIGHT BLUE 

We are going to continue with LIGHT BLUE yarn in the back side of round # 34 see picture 1.

FLO: Make 22 chains, start in the 2nd chain from the hook and make 10 sc, 10 dc, 1 hdc, skip 2 chains and make 1 sl st in the next chain. repeat 4 times.

FLO: Make 5 chains, start in the 3rd chain from the hook and make 3 hdc,  skip 2 chains and make 1 sl st in the next chain. repeat 4 times.

FLO: Make 22 chains, start in the 2nd chain from the hook and make 10 sc, 10 dc, 1 hdc, skip 2 chains and make 1 sl st in the next chain. repeat 6 times.

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Pin the bottom row of hair equally and sew the bottom hair covering all spaces.

  • Sew ears between rounds 35 to 38 and we fold them

FINS light purple

1.- Make 7 chains, start in the 2nd chain from the hook and make 2 sc, 3 hdc, and 1 dc. make 7 chains, start in the 2nd chain from the hook and make 2 sc, 3 hdc, and 1 dc, finish with sl st in the first chain.

  • Cut leaving a long thread, sew the fins in the first round of the tail. 

FLOWER Color pink

1.- In a magic ring make 2 chains, 2 dc, 1 slip stitch. Repeat the same steps until you have 5 petals. Close the ring and leave a long tail for sewing.

  • Sew the flower to the side of the head
