Pennywise The Clown Amigurumi

Pennywise the clown Amigurumi

Pennywise the clown inspired by the movie IT.

SKILLS YOU NEED:

  •  Basic intermediate amigurumi skills
  •  How to change yarn color
  • Basic sewing and embroidery skills
  • How to join parts

MATERIALS:

  • Hook N°  3 mm and 4 mm
  • Worsted weight acrylic yarn #4
  • I used: El gato expres
  • Light grey/ 60g. approx.
  • White/ 50g. approx.
  • Dark grey / 30g approx.
  • Red / 30g.  approx
  • Brick color / 40g. approx.
  • Sport weight yarn ,  Red, Black, Yellow
  • yarn needle
  • stitch marker
  • scissors
  • pins
  • Fiberfill or stuffing of choice
  • 5 Red pom pom 8mm
  • Dog brush (optional)
  • Thin wooden stick to hold the balloon
  • Thread and Needle or a glue gun to sew the pom poms.

 

ABBREVIATIONS:

 

  • R = round
  • MR= magic ring
  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
  • dec = decrease (sc 2 together)
  • inv dec = invisible decrease
  • FLO = front loop only
  • BLO = back loop only
  • sts (s) = stitches (s)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • rep = repeat
  • * * = repeat work between asterisks as indicated
  • ( ) = number of stitches you should have at the end of your round

 

NOTE:

  • Mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker
  • Start stuffing as you go

 

PATTERN 

ARMS MAKE 2 WHITE COLOR

R1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

R3-4.- 1  sc in each stitch around (12)

R5.- *inv dec, 2 sc* rep 3 times (9)

CHANGE TO LIGHT GREY 

R6.- 1  sc in each stitch around (9)
R7.-  BLO  1  sc in each stitch around (9)

R8-10.- 1  sc in each stitch around (9)

R11.- BLO  2  dc  in each stitch around (18)

R12.- * inv dec * rep 9 times (9)

R13.-  inv dec, 7 sc (8)

Stuff firmly

R14.- fold the arm and make 3 sc, both sides together to close.

fasten off and make another one.

We are going to continue with light grey yarn in the back side of round # 7

FLO:  2 hdc in each chain, sl st in the first hdc. (18)

fasten off.

With Sport weight red yarn we embroider the details. 

LEGS MAKE 2 DARK GREY 

R1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

R3.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)

R4.- *2 sc, inc* rep 6 times (24)

R5.- BLO  1  sc in each stitch around (24)

R6.- 8 sc, 4 inv dec, 8 sc (20)

R7.- 6 sc, 4 inv dec, 6 sc (16)

R8.- 1  sc in each stitch around (16)

CHANGE TO LIGHT GREY

R9-10.- 1  sc in each stitch around (16)

R11.- BLO  1  sc in each stitch around (16)

R12-15.- BLO  1  sc in each stitch around (16)

Stuff firmly, fasten off.

We are going to continue with Light grey yarn in the back side of round # 11

FLO:  2 dc  in each chain, sl st in the first dc. (32)

fasten off.

With Sport weight  red yarn we embroider the details. 

Make a second leg, DO NOT cut the yarn at the end.

BODY

Second leg make 6 sc and chain 3.  now join the legs,  count 3 sc of the first leg.  see picture # 3 , place your stitch marker in the first sc.

R16.-  Make 16 sc , 3 sc  over the chain taking only one strand , 16 sc , 3 sc  over the chain taking only one strand (38)

R17.- BLO 1  sc in each stitch around (38)

R18.- 1  sc in each stitch around (38)

R19.- * 17 sc, inv dec* rep 2 times (36)

R20-22.- 1  sc in each stitch around (36)

R23.- BLO  * 4 sc, dec * rep 6 times (30)

R24.- BLO 1  sc in each stitch around (30)

R25-26.- 1  sc in each stitch around (30)

R27.- * 3 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (24)

R28.- 1  sc in each stitch around (24)

R29.- 6 sc, we place the arm to join the body through the 4 strands and we make 3 sc, continued with 9 sc

Place the second arm and make 3 sc and finish the round with 3 sc (24)

¡Start stuffing as you go!

R30.- * inv dec, 2 sc* rep 6 times (18)

R31.- 1  sc in each stitch around (18)

CHANGE TO WHITE 

R32.- BLO  1  sc in each stitch around (18)

We are going to continue with Light grey yarn in the back side of round # 23

R1.- FLO 2 dc in each chain,  sl st in the first dc. (72)
R2.- chain 2 and make 2 dc in each st.  sl st in the first dc. (72)
R3.- * 1 sc, dec * rep 24 times (48)
R4.- * 2 sc, dec * rep 12 times (36)
Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

We are going to continue with Light grey yarn in the back side of round # 24

FLO:  2 dc  in each chain, sl st in the first dc. (60)

fasten off.

We sew the part of the costume on round 17 and fill it slightly as we close.

We are going to continue with Light grey yarn in the back side of round # 32

FLO:  3 dc  in each chain, sl st in the first dc. (54)

fasten off.

With Sport weight red yarn we embroider the details and sew or glue the pom poms. 

HEAD

R33.- * 2 sc, inc * rep 6 times (24)

R34.- * 3 sc, inc * rep 6 times (30)

R35.- * 4 sc, inc * rep 6 times (36)

R36.- * 5 sc, inc * rep 6 times (42)

R37-43.- 1  sc in each stitch around (42)

R44.-* 6 sc, inc * rep 6 times (48)

R45-48.- 1  sc in each stitch around (48)

R49.-* 6 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (42)

R50.- * 5 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (36)

R51.-* 4 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (30)

R52.-* 3 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (24)

R53.-* 2 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (18)

Stuff firmly

R54.-* 1 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (12)

R55.- * inv dec * rep 6 times (6)

Stuff firmly, fasten off 

EYES (2) WITH YELLOW SPORTS WEIGHT YARN AND 3 MM HOOK 

R1.- Make 8 hdc in a magic ring (8)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Place the eyes between rounds 42 and 44, 2 stitches apart

  • Embroider the eyebrows between rounds 43 to 46
  • Embroider nose between rounds 40 to 41

 

  • Embroider mouth between rounds 37 to 38, see pictures 1 to 19.

 

  •  With  black Sport weight yarn we make the theeth forming 4 V .
  • And embroider the rest of the mouth.

 

With  black Sport weight yarn we embroider around the eyes.

HAIR  BRICK COLOR

R1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

R3.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)

R4.-  *2 sc, inc* rep 6 times (24)

R5.- * 3 sc, inc * rep 6 times (30)

R6.- * 4 sc, inc * rep 6 times (36)

R7.- * 5 sc, inc * rep 6 times (42)

R8.- * 6 sc, inc * rep 6 times (48)

R9-14.- 1  sc in each stitch around (48)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Brush and sew it in the back of the head

 HAIR TOP MAKE  1
R1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2.- 1  sc in each stitch around (6)

R3.- inc in each stitch around (12)

R4.- 1  sc in each stitch around (12)

R5.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)

R6.- 1  sc in each stitch around (18)

R7.- *2 sc, inc* rep 6 times (24)

R8.- 1  sc in each stitch around (24)

R9.- * 3 sc, inc * rep 6 times (30)

R10.- 1  sc in each stitch around (30)

R11.- Make 8 dec, 1 sc, 12 hdc, sl st.

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

HAIR OF THE SIDES MAKE 2 

R1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2.- 1  sc in each stitch around (6)

R3.- inc in each stitch around (12)

R4.- 1  sc in each stitch around (12)

R5.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)

R6.- 1  sc in each stitch around (18)

R7.- *2 sc, inc* rep 6 times (24)

R8.- * 3 sc, inc * rep 6 times (30)

R19.- Make 8 dec, 1 sc, 12 hdc, sl st.

Fasten off  and leave a long tail for sewing.

Fill lightly and brush all the pieces.

 

  • Sew the top of the hair in round 50 with the hdc to the front
  • Sew the hair of the sides in round 39 to 47 with the hdc to the back

EARS MAKE 2 WHITE YARN

R1.- 5 sc in a magic ring (5)

We close it in half to form an ear, we make 1 chain and cut leaving a long thread.

  • Sew ears between rounds 39 to 41

BALLOON RED YARN 

R1.- Start 6 sc in a magic ring (6)

R2.- inc in each stitch around (12)

R3.- *1 sc, inc* rep 6 times (18)

R4.- *2 sc, inc* rep 6 times (24)

R5.- * 3 sc, inc * rep 6 times (30)

R6-12.- 1  sc in each stitch around (30)

¡Start stuffing as you go!

R13.- *3 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (24)

R14.- *2 sc, inv  dec* rep 6 times (18)

R15.- 1  sc in each stitch around (18)

R16.- *1 sc, inv dec * rep 6 times (12)

R17.- BLO 1 sc in each stitch around (12)

R18.- Decrease (6)

Fasten off

We are going to continue with red yarn in the back side of round # 17

FLO:  2 sc  in each chain, sl st in the first sc. (24)

fasten off.

We place the wooden stick in the middle part of the balloon.
